One-of-one cubic fluorite specimen from the Boulder Hill Mine area, Wellington/Silver Glance Mining District, Nevada. Pale pink-to-colorless fluorite cubes emerge across richly textured botryoidal iron-oxide matrix, creating a dramatic contrast of geometric crystals and natural grape-like mineral growth.

  • Mineral: Cubic fluorite with botryoidal iron oxide, likely goethite
  • Locality: Attributed to the Boulder Hill Mine area, Silver Glance/Wellington Mining District, Lyon County, Nevada, USA
  • Weight: 3.5 oz (99 g)
  • Geological age: 100+ million years old (reported)
  • Crystal habit: Cubic fluorite with botryoidal iron-oxide matrix
  • Formation: Hydrothermal mineralization in fractures and cavities; fluorite crystallized as cubes while iron-bearing minerals later formed the dark botryoidal coating.
  • Condition: Natural cabinet specimen with excellent contrasting textures. Minor contact wear may be present on delicate crystal edges; no repair observed.
  • Treatment: No treatment reported.
